January 2012
Initiative: Emerging Young Leaders

Emerging Young Leaders Program: January – June 2012; Monthly skill building workshops were held for (15) middle school girls on the following topics: social media, interview skills, college entrance preparation, networking, wellness, nutrition, interpersonal relationships and etiquette.

Initiative: Social Justice and Human Rights
26th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration: The Ladies of KGO joined other Greek organizations at this event to commemorate Dr King. The day included a two mile march through the City of Seaside and culminated with an inspirational program attended by local elected officials, dignitaries, and friends from the community.

February 2012
Initiative: Health

Pink Goes Red For A Day: The Ladies of KGO donned red for the day and hosted a community luncheon for heart health. Community participants received useful health education information.

June 2012
Initiative: Social Justice and Human Rights

Get On The Bus: The Ladies of KGO partnered with The Center for Restorative Justice Works, a non profit that unites children, families and communities separated by crime and the criminal justice system. Children and caregivers from throughout the state were invited to visit mothers and fathers incarcerated at Salinas Valley State Prison. Each child received a travel bag, a photo with their parent, and meals for the days while visiting. When the day concluded, all children received a teddy bear with a letter from their parent and post-event counseling. There were 52 participants at this event.

Initiative: Global Poverty

Holiday Toy and Clothing Drive: The Ladies of KGO in partnership with The Salvation Army assisted with the sorting and packaging of donated items for low and underprivileged children in the Monterey Peninsula area.
